Background

The Alliance Chrétienne Missionnaire (ACM) de France was established by Daniel Bordreuil in 1968, for the primary purpose of recruiting French evangelicals to teach in our mission schools in Francophone Africa. However, within the first nine years, four churches joined to form the French national church called, “AECM” – l’Alliance des Eglises Chrétiennes Missionnaires.   The C&MA mission reorganized as a partner work with the AECM helping primarily to settle Asian “boat people” to whom France had opened entry.

Over the years the emphasis changed to ministries that establish French language congregations, and services to English speaking international people.  In 2009 there were 23 congregations belonging to the AECM, of which twelve are French, nine Asian, and three International English.  The AECM is one of the only Protestant denominations in France that is intentionally multicultural.

C&MA workers are primarily involved in English International ministries serving over 200,000 people in France from around the world who find English as their common language.  The C&MA sponsors Trinity International Church in Paris, Toulouse International Church, and most recently established Trinity International Church in Strasbourg.

Other team members serve in church planting works in the France “regions beyond” areas where less than .5% of the people know Christ.  The 2005 census revealed that French society, one of the most secular countries in Europe, continues to move further from acknowledging a need for a personal walk with God.
